Trades and Services Job Descriptions

Positions for tradespeople and service providers can vary greatly depending on the particular function.  While some may not require substantial educational experience, they typically require specialized training and experience.  Trade-based roles can cover anything from providing security services, car cleaning services or technical maintenance of HVAC systems.

When developing a job description, be clear as to the level of expertise that’s required and what the role is like at your organization and the types of projects or clientele typically serviced, highlighting how what you are offering may be different from others offering a similar role.  If there are particular certifications required like a cosmetology or electrician license, be sure to include that.  Most of these roles involve significant customer or client interaction so make sure to screen for strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and any physical requirements the job may entail.
